This module will introduce participants to the potential of AI tools for alternative assessment in education. Participants will learn how AI tools can be used to assess student learning in new and innovative ways. The module will also explore the role of AI tools in creating more equitable and efficient assessment processes. Participants will gain practical strategies for implementing AI tools in their own educational settings, as well as an understanding of the ethical considerations involved in using AI for assessment. The module will emphasize evidence-based interventions and collaborative approaches to implementing AI tools for alternative assessment in education.
Dr Mohammad Tazli Azizan is the co-founder of Skolar Malaysia and a highly experienced and passionate educator. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to delivering training and facilitation related to teaching and learning, and has worked with a wide range of students and colleagues. He began his career as an associate professor at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), where he served the institution for 17 years and was instrumental in the development and implementation of student-centered learning (SCL) pedagogy initiatives. He later moved on to Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP) in 2021.
In addition to his work as an educator, Dr Tazli has also been involved in policy reform at the national level. He was appointed as one of the members of the National Education Policy Reform Taskforce in 2018 and served until 2019, working closely with the former education minister to shape the direction of education in Malaysia. In 2019, he was seconded to Perak ICT & Multimedia GLC, Digital Perak, where he served as the Chief Executive Officer.
Dr Tazli is highly qualified and has a wealth of experience to draw upon in his work. He holds a PhD in chemical engineering from Imperial College London, where he was a Commonwealth scholar, and he is also a certified HRDF trainer. He has conducted over 150 trainings and has served as a plenary speaker at various teaching and learning events and conferences. As part of his innovative approach to teaching and learning, he has also trained others in using AI tools such as ChatGPT for enhancing teaching and learning, research, and work productivity in general.
Dr Tazli is passionate about facilitating team building activities among colleagues and clients, and empowering educators with 21st century skills, as he believes that collaborative educators will produce collaborative students. His participants range from kindergarten school teachers to university professors, and he has also helped university and secondary school students to achieve their full potential through his module on Blooming out of Mediocrity (BOOM).
